Scattered across Kentucky's bluegrass are stately horse farms with rolling hills and white fences. But not all of Kentucky's horse farms are of the grand variety. There are also many smaller farms which offer picturesque locations with a less ostentatious atmosphere.
The "horse capital of the world" is Lexington, the heart of central Kentucky, home of the world-famous Calumet Farm. Lexington may be the town with the largest concentration of horse farms in the world, but it has more than horses to offer. Period neighborhoods, antebellum mansions, two universities and one of the largest basketball venues in the nation, Rupp Arena, are only a few of the city's assets.
