In 1978, Steel was filmed on location at a downtown Lexington construction site. Since then, the downtown district has been revitalized. Modern skyscrapers, and several parks create an inviting ambiance.

Central Kentucky's river city is Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby, the Belle of Louisville and Pulitzer Prize-winning Actors Theatre. Modern office towers contrast historic neighbor hoods and homes, including blocks of Victorian homes and Farmington, built in 1810 using a design by Thomas Jefferson.

Louisville's Bowman Field, a small private airport with 1940's architecture, is still in operation. The city is served commercially via nearby Standiford Field.
