Downtown Recording is Kentucky's largest full service audio production
company. We have been in business for eleven years. We have two
(and soon three) fully automated control rooms, one fully digital,
and one loaded with great vintage analog gear. Both are running
the latest Pro Tools system, Pro Tools HD 6.0.1 (the most popular
audio software in the world) with every plug-in you'd ever want,
those sweet little extras; and Sadie, a British non-destructive-digital
editing software famous for it's revolutionary quality of digital
sound for broadcast, film and compact disc. We have been successfully
doing sound design for a decade and have a combined experience
of almost seventy five years. We also specialize in custom music

I have a B.A. in Music Theory/Composition from Asbury College
-- studied under world-renowned symphonic band composer James
Curnow. My assistant engineer holds a degree in Recording Arts
from Full Sail. We have done several music composition, production,
and audio post projects for video production companies such as
New Link Media in L.A. and location audio for local film production
company Viking Productions. After having produced full-production
albums for several years, we found that we were already equipped
(both gear and our ears too) for nearly any audio for video project.
As for gear, we have all kinds of (good sounding) audio clean-up
and mixing software including just about every professional noise
reduction package out there (from a series of reviews we did for
Microfilmmaker.com). We've also purchased high-end hardware units
that cater to this market such as our TC Electronics System 6000
multichannel effects processor.

Put that Kentucky feel to your production! Specializing in traditional
Kentucky music with a contemporary twist... Scott Scarboro has
been creating music under the name Monkey Boy for the past nine
or so years. his most recent self produced recording entitled
"When Monkeys Fly" has received air play on college
and alternative radio circuits. Monkey Boy mixes traditional jaw
harps, slide guitar, dulcimer, stomp boxes, fiddle and drums with
an odd assortment of contraptions made from electronic toys, coffee
cans and other what-nots. Ambient background noodle sound scapes
(similar to "Sling Blade") or full out "song"
songs.
